Travel & Accommodation

Participants are kindly asked to arrive either in the evening of Wednesday, 28 Sep 2011, or on Thursday, 29 Sep 2011 no later than 12:00 in Göttingen, Germany. Council members not participating in the Publications Committee Meeting may arrive in the afternoon of 29 Sep 2011. In any case, please take a high speed train directly to Göttingen, or fly to the airports of either Frankfurt or Hannover and take the high speed train as well.

For connections and tickets please visit the Deutsche Bahn website (German Railway Network). Frankfurt airport (FRA) is connected to Göttingen through the train ICE in the direction of Hamburg/Bremen taking 2 hours. From Hannover airport (HAJ), please use the suburban train S5 first from airport to central station (Hauptbahnhof, abbreviated Hbf) and then the ICE in the direction of Munich/Stuttgart. The whole trip including changing trains takes 1.5 hours.

Travel Booking: We kindly ask you to take care of your travel to/from Göttingen. EGU will reimburse transportation expenses up to €500 EUR for travelling inside Europe and up to €1.000 for travelling from other continents. Please help to keep the overall costs low and use the most environmentally friendly and inexpensive means of transportation.

For the reimbursement of the transportation expenses please download and fill out the Travel Expense Claim Form, sign the form, and attach the original invoices/tickets (train and/or flight tickets with the boarding cards). Hotel Booking: Hotel rooms are centrally booked by Copernicus. All participants are staying in the 4* hotel Freizeit In including the 8,500 sqm wellness and fitness area Vital Spa. The hotel hosts the dinner on Wednesday as well as lunch and Publications Committee Meeting on Thursday. Shuttle services will be permanently available between train station and hotel.
